I have a workaround for sending emails to apple notes and the transition has been smooth - I have programmed my scansnap to send direct to apple notes - and all has gone like clockwork. In the end I chose the simplicity and speed of Apple Notes, it's tight integration with Apple devices and it's ability to accept quick notes - too cool.

Its ecosystem is dated and confusing - Penultimate, scannable and skitch -are all obsolete.
